On August 19, 2026, the Florida Attorney General filed suit in state court against a range of sweepstakes casino operators and their service providers. The complaint alleges the platforms:
- constitute illegal gambling,
- amount to illegal lotteries, and
- function as illegal gambling devices and slot machines,
alongside claims of unfair, deceptive or unconscionable trade practices.
The remedies sought are what make this significant. The AG is asking for a declaratory judgment, an injunction barring sweepstakes operators from Florida entirely, disgorgement of revenues, forfeiture of sums staked, used or won in connection with Florida players, and civil penalties. The action also names payment and data infrastructure companies as defendants, including Worldpay, Yodlee and Trustly.
That last detail matters. When an enforcement action reaches the payment layer, the practical risk stops being about whether an operator eventually wins in court and becomes about whether it can process a payment or verify a player at all while the case runs.
Why Cluck.us withdrew from Florida
